Making Gene Copies

In order for a scientist to piece together the right promoter and coding region to form the transgene, they need to make lots and lots of COPIES of these segments of DNA.  The process of making these copies is known as PCR.  The scientist in the next video will use the term PCR, but all we need to know at this point is that this technique helps the scientist make enough copies of the desired DNA regions that he can work with them well.  We’ll learn more about PCR later in Enviropig!
